I am sure by now everyone in Singapore is aware that there is a massive manhunt going on, not of the male-hunks-on-display type unfortunately, but an islandwide search for the leader of Singapore’s Jemaah Islamiyah network who escaped from the detention centre. While it is nice to know that the police, the SOCs and the trusty Gurkhas are out in full force to nab the guy, what I would like to know is

how the hell did a guy, who quote unquote walks with a limp, manage to escape from Whitley Road Detention Centre???

He limps! I am quite sure someone who limps cannot do a C.Kunalan on us and sprint past the guards at lightning speed. Judging from the official statement released from the powers that be, it seems that they are trying to deflect heat off the matter of him escaping by telling the public that “extensive police resources have been deployed”. However I am nice so I will assume that investigation is on going at press time and there’s no conclusive answer, yet. That being said, I sure hope the subsequent statement/explanation will not be embellished with impressive records and statistics of how this is a freak accident and that Singapore’s rate of so called prison break is very very very low compared to other countries blablabla. Screw that line of reasoning. This calls for a proper explanation and a hell lot of accountability, rolled heads too perhaps?
