Banana Republic.

There are 2 downside of Karu’s. One is the crappy ventilation, which ensures that you will emanate a distinctly mamak food scent upon leaving the shop. Second is the too low air con temperature which leads to food getting cold fast, which in turn encourages lightning speed consumption (I hate to eat food that is no longer piping, tongue-scalding hot) and subsequently, gluttony. Despite the 2 negative points, every morsel of Karu’s masala chicken briyani is worth the yellow-stained fingers and smelling like I fell into a vat of curry.

Here I am discussing the merits and demerits of Karu’s when I have a mid-term tomorrow. To put it succinctly, I am fucked. Beyond belief for this entire semester. It is my most lax semester ever and that is saying a lot trust me. I have not been keeping up with the readings at all for all 3 reading-based modules. I haven’t even numbered, colour coded them or filed my notes properly!! One of the module is a Science one and it has turned out to be a lengthy, boring history of Science as opposed to its module title, “A Brief History of Science.” The lecturer may speak with a pleasant European accent, Irish maybe, but it’s not enough to sustain my interest. Maybe because he sports a pseudo-mullet. Then there’s the non-examinable music module that is unpredictable because who knows what grade my singing and bamboo knocking will be worth in the eyes of the lecturer. As for Thai, it is no secret that it is the main contributing factor to my rage and frustrations.

The exam results will tell me the price I paid for this complacency and supreme procrastination. Till then, I am going to remain immobilized by my stress and paranoia.
