For three years, there was never a time when I did not want to return as I constantly thought of the sun-drenched days and the balmy nights there. People have asked me, why do I love the place so much? Is it the gorgeous beaches, the breathtaking sunsets, the laidback lifestyle, the friendly people, the good food or what? Yes, it is all that but it is also something else, something intangible and unexplainable that makes it special.
Prior to my return, I actually slaved away for a month to save up and the moment I stepped foot on the much loved land, I knew it was all worth it. Every step I climbed up the hill to work, every hour of sleep I lost, every single book I lugged around and every moment I waited, it was all so very worth it. In a sense, I would say that it wasn’t so much a holiday as it was a homecoming and coming home never felt so good. It was also a special return as it was the first time I was returning with a friend, my dear Boarie. For some reason, I kept calling her by her real name, Lydia, there hahaha! It was also Boarie’s 4th return and rest assured, it won’t be hers or my last return. We intend to come back next year and this time around we hope the rest can come along too. We stayed for 6 days, can we make it a month next year? Wait, did you hear that? That is the sound of the Paki’s and Alfian’s screams hahaha!
Even though it was my fourth visit, it still felt like the first time. There will always be something new to take my breath away. It is hard to put into words the magic that is Bali and as such I will keep my narration to a bare minimum. The pictures shall do the talking.
